Mainecat, while in bankrupcy, VENDORS and suppliers get paid. The courts make sure of that. Its the previous debt they settle on that occured before bankrupcy. The court gets involved here too. Suppliers get paid but they may not get all they are owed. Again on only pre-file debt. During they get paid. We had more vendors working with us in bankrupcy cuz they knew they where safe. you need to learn how this works.

Actually there seems to be a misconception about Chp 11. Your suppliers don't get stiffed. Maybe on orders prior to filing but during backrupcy, it is a safe place to be. A judge dishes out the money and controls the finances. This judge makes sure people get paid. So if GM files, their suppliers are safe. In fact, they may even get paid sooner than in the past. Some of you really need to see what happens in chp 11. I consulted with 2 companies in chp 11 and know how this works.

sorry, but a bailout won't work. It will be gone within 6 months. the big 3 need to file chp 11 and restructure. The unions are 50% of the problem whether you think so or not. Why do you think you see CHINA on parts labels? cuz they don't need to pay someone $50 and hour to turn a screw driver.
Chp 11 will make the stronger and more nimble to compete in today's market place. Its a simple fact.

We're not Argentina.
Our own economy became GREAT in the 50s and early 60s due to trickle up economics.

Over the last 25 years, the "redistribution" of wealth has consisted of a reduction of poor & middle class income to pay for executive multimillion dollar bonuses. Something called trickle down economics.
The "tricle up" economy (O'bamas) will work much better than the "trickle down" one ever did.
